Heather MacKenzie is an award-winning photographer who has an emotional link with her subjects. She is also an artist and sees the lines blurring between the two arts more and more. She loves to bridge the two and create images that blend her unique vision into her photo-art.  She grew up on Cape Cod in the town of Chatham. While attending art school at MassArt, she realized her love of photography and film, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

She moved to L.A. to pursue a career in film which led her to a field camera position with ABC in news. Heather covered many historical events with her award-winning work at ABC. She also attained an MFA degree from UCLA while working full-time for the station. Heather paints watercolors, finding inspiration from the beauty and glorious light on the Cape.  She also developed a style of painting on her photos. Her work can be seen at Local Color Art Gallery in Chatham and at her studio at the Harwich Cultural Center. Heather occasionally gives workshops, demonstrations, and talks on her news career.
