Carl Lopes graduated from Pratt University in 1977 with an MFA, and has had an active studio practice ever since. He held the position of Visual Arts Director at Barnstable High School for 25 years, and worked there as a visual arts instructor since 1977, retiring in 2014 to devote himself full time to his artistic career. Carl Is an active member of the arts community here on Cape Cod, and serves on the Board of Directors for Cotuit Center for the Arts, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and the Zion Union Heritage Museum, where he is also a resident artist.
