This workshop is free and open to poets, writers and artists interested in exploring haiku and all its related forms, including its blending with visual art.
Haiku has been defined as “the essence of a moment keenly perceived.” This session will explore what a haiku is (and is not), how poets have used the building blocks of the form to re-create moments that are often overlooked, and how haiku can even be combined with prose and art to re-create meaningful experiences. There will be an opportunity to try your hand at writing haiku and its cousin, the haibun (a combination of prose and haiku).
