Opening Reception for “Memory Vs. Story” and “Sea Patterns” by Stephanie King 

Friday, July 28, 5-8pm. Explore the continuous connection between science and art during two new exhibitions at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.  “Memory Vs. Story” is an art installation-based experience that will use science and art from various social and cultural perspectives to help us understand ourselves and how powerful memory can be in establishing where we’ve been and who we are. This exhibition was commissioned by the Center and created by artist John Cira, using artifacts from the local community to create a structure to build on as time goes by and will be exhibited in all four main galleries from July 28 to September 9. “Sea Patterns,” created by Stephanie King, is a whimsical and thought-provoking exploration of land flora and marine algae that encourages people to rethink their relationship with seaweed, to better understand the role that these underwater gardens play in keeping our oceans and planet healthy. These mixed media pieces will be on display in the Education Wing Creative Arts Space Gallery from July 28-September 9. There will be opening remarks from Cape Cod Hospitals Chief Neurologist, Dr. Sean P. Horrigan. All are welcome. There is no admission fee.
