In the tradition of sumi-e painting, the artist concentrated mind and spirit in the process of paiting, letting the brush and ink do the work. You will learn about these ancient traditions, as you practice the basic brushstrokes that comprise the classic subjects of bamboo, orchid, and plum. As you gain brush-handling skills, you will explore animals, landscapes, haiku poetry and other subjects. This method of painting is very relaxed, meditative and enjoyable. All levels welcome. $10 fee includes brush, ink and some paper.
