DUC Choirs present Joseph Martin's "Appalachian Winter"

Dennis Union Church will once again present a free concert, conducted by Margaret Bossi.  The combined choirs of DUC, along with the youth choir and a chamber instrumental ensemble, will sing Joseph Martin’s “Appalachian Winter”, a cantata for Christmas. This charming work is a carol cantata with new original texts, with melodies taken  from the America folksong and hymn tradition. Many of the tunes such as “Simple Gifts” , “The Cherry Tree Carol” and “Children Go Where I Send Thee” will be familiar to listeners. The concert will be at 4:00 p.m. in the church, and is followed at 5:00 by the Living Creche and caroling on the Dennis Village green. The church will be decorated for the season, and this is a beautiful and quiet way to await Christmas.
