Cold Wax Painting Workshop, with Elaine Tata 

Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Thursday, October 12 and Thursday, October 19 from 1-3pm. Join us for this 2-day intensive workshop with Painter Elaine Tata. Explore the magic of painting in oil and cold wax medium, or CWM.  Cold wax medium is composed of mainly beeswax, with a small amount of solvent to soften it. It has a soft, paste-like consistency, (like frosting) at room temperature and dries to a matte surface. Unlike encaustic processes, CWM requires no heat.  CWM adds body to oil paint, speeds up drying time, and allows light movement in your paintings, giving a luminous surface, allowing artists to build up beautiful textural effects and layers.  We will cover all the basics so that you will understand how and why you might want to incorporate CWM into your artistic practice.  Artists will learn the basics for painting in CWM.  Compositions from small studies in semi-abstract to abstract still life and landscapes will be completed, leading into larger works of oil and cold wax.  $88/$80 for members.  Register at www.cultural-center.org or call 508-394-7100.
