Carol Odell- Balancing Energies: The power of composition -Abstract/ Non Objective Painting Workshop

Knowing the elements of design is essential to creating a strong structure for any kind of artwork and the key for bringing any composition to completion. By understanding visual perception, the artist (beginner or advanced) is better able to analyze works and correct compositional problems regardless of the style of art. This workshop is designed to help the artist create compositions that emphasize strong design regardless of style, medium or discipline.

Participants will be encouraged to explore compositions based on experimentation, intuitive process and improvisational techniques in a number of visual exercises over a short time. Individual instruction will be on-going and group discussions of works will occur each day.

The class will be about producing preliminary studies, sketches or exercises so as to give insight into new ideas or ways to improve current works. Line, texture, form, values, color, etc. will all be considered and discussed.
