Blue-inspired Concert

The Kalliope Reed Quintet will present a blue-inspired program celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and Gershwin’s 125th birthday Sept. 30 at Thacher Hall in Yarmouth Port. The contemporary chamber ensemble, founded in 2019, is one of the first 50 reed quintets worldwide that present unique, engaging and educational programs to communities, locally and worldwide.

The concert features works from living composers from Latin America and two new Gershwin arrangements from his lesser-known opera, “Blue Monday,” and the favorite masterpiece, “Rhapsody in Blue.”

The program at 7 p.m. is $30 for adults and free for youth under 18. The concert is made possible with the support of Thacher Hall and the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth. Tickets at www.hsoy.org/events. Thacher Hall, the former New Church, is at 266 Route 6A, Yarmouth Port.
