Figure/Still Life Painting in the Studio – Exploring Color and Light with John Clayton.  Sept 23-24

Still life & Portrait in the Studio  In this two-day workshop students will focus on the figure as well as the still life in the studio. Using a painting knife students will learn to Identify shapes of color while working from the model one day and the still life the other. John will demonstrate each day and  offer plenty of individualized attention. Students will learn to simplify shapes of color to create light filled painting.

Plein air Landscape Painting – Exploring Color and Light with John Clayton.  May 6-7, 9-4

In this two-day workshop, light and color on the landscape will be explored. Each day John Clayton will demonstrate using a palette knife. He will simplify the scene to flat masses and develop values and exciting color notes with the goal of light filled paintings.  Students will learn how to mix key colors by comparing color notes and painting shapes of color in an expressive creative way.
