The Art of Books

Woodruff\’s Art Center owner Amy Rice and Market Street Bookshop owner Cynthia O\’Brien put their heads together this past winter and came up with an interesting exhibit. Cynthia selected eight book titles that include non-fiction, essay, young adult, middle school, classic, sci-fi/fantasy, inspirational and book club favorite fiction. Amy put together a group of 16 artists who chose and read up to three titles each, and in their favorite medium(s) created works of art inspired by the texts.

The exhibit has as many mediums as there are books; there is oil, ink, acrylic, jewelry, watercolor, fiber, drawing, collage, pastel and gouache. Each book selection will be on display accompanied by several art works per title. OPENING RECEPTION Thursday, September 21st, 5:00-7:00pm
