During the hour session each Wednesday, there will be directed and silent meditation. The time will also include 1:1 exploration of why one wishes to meditate, the history and forms of meditation, the body in meditation, breathing, awareness, and thought. There will be instruction and practice in the forms of sitting, standing, reclining and walking meditation. Walking meditation (j. kinhin) will be practiced outside in good weather.
A typical 60 minute period might include:
Welcome and introductions
Opening remarks
Building the form: posturing for meditation
Sitting period # 1
Kinhin or walking meditation
Sitting period # 2
Questions and discussion of one’s experience during the session
