Striking Out: A Christmas Play in 6 Innings

 The Falmouth Theatre Guild is trying something new for its Christmas show this year: a baseball comedy.

“Striking Out: A Christmas Play in Six Innings” begins with a family gathered around a Christmas tree on Christmas morning. 

But as the father tells his children a story from his childhood, the show turns to a flashback of a Little League field in July where the team, the Angels, is having their worst game ever against the opposing team, the Daredevils.

The Angels’ coach does not show up and the team has to take matters into its own hands.

There are arguments, cheers, rivalries, and soon it is the boys against the girls on this team that can’t seem to get a hit. 

But eventually, the children learn the meaning of teamwork, sportsmanship and friendship.

This ensemble comedy with a mostly all-kid cast is the ultimate feel-good play for Christmas.

The show, which runs about an hour and a half with no intermission, will have six performances.

The show dates are December 5 to 14, Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m.
