From his humble beginnings in Brooklyn, N.Y. he was a solitary man at heart who suffered bouts of depression. He toured worldwide for decades trying to escape the insecure loneliness he embodied. His career has spanned sixty plus years with a grammy, seven nominations and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, a Golden Globe winner, a Billboard Music Award recipient & was nominated two times for an Emmy. Neil Diamond’s music weaves a colorful tapestry of his life. His song “Brooklyn Roads” paints a picture of a young child bounding up two flights of stairs gazing out of his brownstone apartment window with dreams of dragons & kings. “His music is simple and complicated at the same time and although I have included his hits, I have added a few obscure challenging pieces that I believe will not disappoint our audience,” says Producer Ruth Condon.
Malcolm Granger will direct the 8-piece band which includes himself & Misao Koyama on piano, Susan Goldberg on bass, Michael Dunford on percussion, Gregg Sullivan & Tad Price on guitars, Steven Ahearn on Trumpet/Flute & Kenny Rogers on Trombone. The diversified cast includes Cotuit’s favorites, Anthony Teixeira & John Connelly, singer songwriter Tom Tracy, newcomer Steve Putnam, Ruth Condon & Kate Pazakis, the current Producing Artistic Director at Cape Cod Theater Company/HJT to complete a great cast!
