Organ Concert: Hymns of Faith & Praise

Be enveloped by the surround-sounds of the St. Cecilia Organ and its kaleidoscope of colors at the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans! This joyous summer program performed by Artists-in-Residence, SharonRose Pfeiffer and James Jordan, will feature hymn settings for organ by William Bolcolm, Harold Darke and John Rutter, including “Amazing Grace,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and “O God, Our Help in Ages Past,” as well as a virtuosic set of concert variations by 19th century New England composer John Knowles Paine.
The newly completed surround-sound pipe organ, restored by Nelson Barden of Boston, is comprised of parts of twenty-seven different E. M. Skinner organs, includes over 12,000 pipes, and is the only one in the world with its particular surround-sound configuration.
