Historical Society of Old Yarmouth 70th Anniversary Celebration

The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth invites all to its 70th anniversary celebration on Aug. 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on Route 6A in Barnstable Village. The evening will feature music by the Bart Weisman Smooth Jazz Group, an oyster bar, appetizers, specialty desserts and beverages, and a live and silent auction.

Live auction items following the music will feature special experiences of a private picnic lunch for four at Sandy Neck Lighthouse, a bi-plane ride in Marstons Mills, dune tours and more. A silent auction throughout the evening will offer gift certificates to restaurants, entertainment and historical venues and local merchant gift baskets.

Patrons also will be able to enjoy the patio gardens outside Walden Hall during the evening. Cost is $50 a person. Reservations can be made through the HSOY website, www.hsoy.org/events.

The society that was founded in 1953 in Yarmouth Port consists of the Capt. Bangs Hallet House Museum, a walking trail, the Kelley Chapel and several other buildings off Route 6A.
