Author Talk with Terri Arthur

West Falmouth Library welcomes author Terri Arthur to the Library on Wednesday, May 25th at 4pm. Arthur is the author of Fatal Decision: Edith Cavell, WWI Nurse and Power Failure: A Nurse’s Story, both based on true events. The talk is $8, purchase at westfalmouthlibrary.org, at the Library, or at the event the day of.

Terri is a retired Disaster Nurse for the American Red Cross. Her recent book, Power Failure: A Nurse’s Story is based on actual events from her experience managing a medical clinic in a storm shelter on Cape Cod during one of the most devastating storms of the century to hit the East coast. It gives the fascinating account of survival, good intentions, erratic bosses, mounting surprises, and a missing woman. It recently won the Independent Press Award. Arthur’s book, Fatal Decision: Edith Cavell, WWI Nurse, is based on the true story of a British nurse who worked with the resistance movement in Belgium during WW1 to rescue Allied soldiers from the tyranny of the Germans. It won the Midwest Independent Publishers Award for Historical Fiction and was also a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award, an international competition. It was also awarded the Boston Massachusetts State House Citation of Recognition. It has been optioned for film.

Terri Arthur, RN, BS, MS has worked as a critical care nurse, staff educator, and clinical manager. She holds degrees in nursing, education and biology and master’s in health business management. She founded and continues to manage Medical Education Systems, Inc., an educational company. She is a charter member of the Nightingale Society in recognition for her generous support for nursing scholarship and research. For her work advocating for the health and safety of nurses, she was awarded the Kathryn McGinn-Cutler Award from the Mass. Nurses Association.
