After years of working as a corporate trainer, Kathleen’s life took a nomadic turn in 1997 when she accompanied her husband Michael, a construction contracts manager, to the newly independent country of Ukraine. That began their eighteen years of nomadic adventures, including over ten years living in Former Soviet Union (FSU) countries. While working on a memoir about their experiences, she has become a Director with the Cape Cod Writers Center and one of their hosts for the author interview program Books and the World. She recently had her stories about life in Kyiv published in the Cape Cod Times. Join her as she speaks about Ukraine’s struggles for independence and reads a short story about the Murphys’ experience of being first-time expatriates in Kyiv.
