Embodiment: Building Meaningful Content: Psychological Self-Potrait

Presented by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at Truro Center for the Arts

This class is for:
INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

This Embodiment Workshop is to support you in discovering and integrating personal symbolism into a meaningful psychological self portrait. With a focus on content development vs techniques we will utilize writing prompts, mindfulness exercises and group discussions we will explore different archetypes, social influences and personal metaphors in order to create a unique visual vocabulary as personal expression.

Through the use of image, word, and personal symbology you will apply a variety of materials and techniques (including encaustic painting, mixed media and collage) to create your unique and reflective figurative (or not) psychological portrait.

This workshop engages proficient artists ready to explore more personal content and dig deeper in their personal practice. Through combining multiple approaches and techniques based on your skillset, you will be guided through developing and articulating your individual narrative symbology into the figure as an ‘embodiment’ of self

Content derived from this workshop will be a great resource to bring back to your own studio practice for further exploration, development and application.
