Intro to Bonsai

Presented by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at Truro Center for the Arts

Bonsai is a lifetime of learning, and this could be your first step into an otherwise mysterious art form. During the course of this class, we will be working with nursery selected material, working though the process of pruning, root pruning, making design decisions, styling the tree, and repotting it in a bonsai pot. By the end of this class, you will have your own bonsai tree, an understanding of the principles of bonsai, and confidence in growing and caring for your tree. Hopefully, you will also have an unquenchable obsession with this beautiful and fulfilling practice and art form.
Price of the class includes: Nursery stock juniper tree, Bonsai pot- composite appx 5”x8”x3”, Bonsai soil, and wire to style and secure the tree.

Kai Potter is a writer, surfer, artist, and garden designer who has been practicing bonsai for over twenty years. He has a collection of trees he’s grown, gathered from the wild, and inherited, all kept in a Japanese-style garden he built in Wellfleet.
