Website Building for Artists

Website Building for Artists

Presented by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at Online/Virtual Space

We’ll be using the Squarespace platform only (with a short section on Shopify as well), as these do-it-yourself platforms are the most contemporary, well designed and industry standard. You’ll learn how to write a compelling artist bio, create beautiful and correctly sized digital images, write a blog that brings in Google search traffic, sell online, make a contact page and connect it to your social media and build a fully functioning website for your art practice. No web experience necessary. All students must have a computer with updated web software (an iPad will not work for this class), access to image editing software (I will recommend and offer links for free trial applications for Mac), and access to a digital camera or smart phone. Students will receive one-on-one time with the instructor before presenting their final websites to the class on the final day.
Jesse Freidin was America's leading fine art dog photographer for the past 15 years, and now focuses his attention on elevating the experience of the queer/tgnc community through portraiture and interviews. His photography is part of over 150 private collections nationwide. He is a teacher and mentor for artists looking to market and sell their work effectively and with authenticity. Jesse’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post and many more. He is the author of two books:  When Dogs Heal: Powerful Stories of People Living with HIV and the Dogs That Saved Them (Lerner Books, 2020), and Finding Shelter (Lyons Press, 2017).
