Pilgrim Cemetery Tour

Presented by Historical Society of Old Yarmouth at Ancient Cemetery

‘Descendants’ of Pilgrims ‘speak’

Historical Society of Old Yarmouth costumed characters will guide a walking tour of the Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouth Port on Aug. 17 as a preview to the 400th anniversary of the landing of the Pilgrims in Massachusetts next year.

They will tell the stories of Pilgrims such as Stephen Hopkins, who built the first house in Yarmouth in 1639, and Mayflower passenger descendants: the Whites, Aldens, Howlands and Hallets. Of interest are the White stones, descendants of Peregrine White, the first born in New England when the Mayflower pulled ashore in Provincetown Harbor.

Tickets at $15 for each tour at 1 and 3 p.m. are available at 508-362-3021. Reservations required. Limit of 30 per tour.
