The ten-minute play is a refined miniature of a full-length dramatic work. It embodies all the structural elements of the full-length play: inciting incident, turning points, and dramatic arc and resolution.
A popular format in festivals across the country, this compact jolt of theatrical energy can move its audience to tears, to joy and laughter, and cathartic surprise. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or beginner, writing the ten-minute play will teach you to write with economy and help sharpen your dramatic skills. In this class you’ll be asked to write and revise a short play of your own, which will be showcased in an evening of readings at Truro’s Payomet Performing Arts Center.
