Paper Sculpture and Installation with Kate McQuillen

Paper Sculpture and Installation with Kate McQuillen

Presented by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at Truro Center for the Arts

Paper will be studied as a material with unique abilities to both hold information on its surface and be sculpted into an object. We will examine when a line in space can also present itself as a drawing, how an object can be both an image and a sculpture, and how the flexible nature of paper can lend itself to working site-specifically.

Kate McQuillen is a Brooklyn-based artist working in printmaking and installation. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, the Terrain Biennial, O’Born Contemporary, and The Comfort Station. Writings about her work have been included in Art in Print, Printeresting, the Chicago Tribune, and Hyperallergic, and in publications by the Poetry Foundation, Columbia College and Rutgers University. She has received multiple grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the City of Chicago for her installations.
