Painting with Light with Dana Dunham

Presented by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at Truro Center for the Arts

This workshop will be an introduction to using liquid emulsion as a method of creating photographic images on surfaces including watercolor paper, fabric, and wood using a black and white negative. Students will learn various coating techniques and we’ll discuss the best ways to prepare the surfaces to achieve a painterly effect. Students will process their images in the darkroom, troubleshoot problem issues, and discuss finishing and presentation options for this unique process. Students are welcome to bring negatives or film to be shot and developed for the week.

Dana Dunham earned his MFA in 2011 from MassArt at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA. He continues to develop his ability for self-expression and works in various mediums that include woodworking, ceramics, installation art, and the moving image. His work can be seen in Recent Collections at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, as well as in his large portfolio of imagery from the Lower Cape.
