Fay’s landscape class will work primarily en plein air, weather permitting, with a focus on capturing the light and environment of the Outer Cape.
Working on a new canvas daily, students will be encouraged to define their own goals, have the opportunity to experiment with palette knife if they wish, and to depict the colors of the landscape in changing conditions. Instruction will be in oil. While all levels are welcome, a familiarity with the materials is helpful.
Trained and licensed as a psychologist, Fay Shutzer began painting when she first came to the Cape over twenty-five years ago. She studied with artist Anne Packard, and later, Anne’s daughter Cynthia. She is a member of the Art Student’s League, Oil Painters of America, The Salmagundi Club, and American Women Artists. She is represented by the Left Bank Gallery in Wellfleet, the Gallery of Graphic Arts in New York, and her work can also be seen in “After Hopper” exhibits at the Addison Art Gallery in Orleans.
