Watercolor on Yupo with Carole Berren

Working on Yupo is a journey in discovery. The “paper” is non absorbent, the watercolors slide, mingle and remain intense on this surface. We will learn to put the paint on, take it off (Yupo is very forgiving), glaze for rich darks and experiment with various textures, creating a rectangle of possibilities as we take it further.

The first part of the workshop is in the name of free and fun exploration with intentions to repeat color, texture, etc. With the previous work, we evaluate what has happened naturally and freely. Eventually we start to see a theme, an essence of an idea or just a surface ready for creating an image. The paper is taken further into a painting. There will be much guidance to help us find our way within our own painting. I’ve seen some fantastic results with this very free beginning.
