“Managing the 21st century wilderness”

 Our popular Sunday lecture series, “At The Atwood”, continues on April 27th with the third in this year’s series under the title Constructing Wilderness, with a lecture by Katherine Grandjean, Assistant Professor of History at Wellesley College.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Wilderness Act and Monomoy, the only area in Southern New England designated under the Act, the Atwood House Museum is proud to present Constructing Wildereness, in partnership with six local and national partner organizations.

Speakers: Dave Brownlie, Refuge Manager, Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, and Nancy Roeper, National Wilderness Coordinator, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Dave Browline is a Refuge Manager for Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge at US Fish and Wildlife Service. He is also a Refuge Manager at DOI-Wildland Fire Management. Previously he was Planning Section Chief – Alternate at Southern Area (Red) Incident Mgt. Team, Fire and Refuge Management at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Regional Fire Ecologist-Planning Section Chief Type 1 at US Fish and Wildlife Service. He holds his BS in Wildlife Management from the University of Main at Orono.
