Nina de Gramont’s latest novel, The Christie Affair is a beguiling novel of star-crossed lovers, heartbreak, revenge, and murder—and a brilliant re-imagination of one of the most talked about unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century – the 11-day disappearance of Agatha Christie. A New York Times and international bestseller, the Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick for February, 2022, and one of Wall Street Journal’s best books of 2022, The Christie Affair is a wonderfully clever take on Agatha Christie’s mysterious real-life disappearance in 1926.
de Gramanont’s other books include a collection of short stories, Of Cats and Men, and the novels Gossip of the Starlings and The Last September. She has written several YA novels (Every Little Thing in the World, Meet Me at the River, The Boy I Love, and — under the pen name Marina Gessner — The Distance From Me to You).
American essayist, memoirist, nature writer editor and cartoonist, David Gessner, will join Nina to talk about his latest book: A Traveler’s Guide to the End of the World, Tales of Fire, Wind and Water. The duo will also discuss the dynamic of having not one but two best-selling authors in the same household.
Gessner is the author of thirteen books of nonfiction, including, most recently A Traveler’s Guide to the End of the World, All The Wild That Remains: Edward Abbey, Wallace Stegner and the American West, as well as the Ultimate Glory: Frisbee, Obsession, and My Wild Youth; the New York Times bestseller. The Tarball Chronicles won the 2012 Reed Award for Best Book on the Southern Environment and the Association for Study of Literature and the Environment’s award for best book of creative writing in 2011 and 2012.
David has penned several novels revealing his love of nature, humor and environmentalism, including Leave It As It Is: A Journey Through Theodore Roosevelt’s American Wilderness and the New York Times-bestselling All the Wild That Remains: Edward Abbey, Wallace Stegner and the American West. His prizes include a Pushcart Prize, the John Burroughs Award for Best Nature Essay, the Association for Study of Literature and the Environment’s award for best book of creative writing, and the Reed Award for Best Book on the Southern Environment. In 2017 he appeared on the National Geographic Explorer show “The Call of the Wild”.
Wine and Cheese will be served as well, for an evening of convivial talk chat and literary exploration. Eight Cousins will offer the books for purchase.
