Volunteers Needed - Historic Halloween Trick or treat

This year, for the first time, four sites around the Yarmouthport Common on Route 6A will be open for safe trick or treating, from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.

The Edward Gorey House, the Captain Bangs Hallet House, the Yarmouth New Church and the Compass Rose Inn will welcome Halloween lovers of all ages for treats and surprises. 

Parking will be available at the Compass Rose Inn, 277 Main St., at the Yarmouthport Post Office, and at limited spots at the Gorey House.

The Edward Gorey House, the Captain Bangs Hallet House, the Yarmouth New Church and the Compass Rose Inn will welcome Halloween lovers of all ages for treats and surprises.

But … we need volunteers to help make this a fun and safe event. Can you volunteer an hour or two to hand out treats, or help guide visitors to designated safe routes between sites? All you need is a good flashlight and some Halloween spirit (so to speak…). Costumes, of course, are encouraged! 

This is a great and fun opportunity to share a bit of Yarmouth’s history with everyone! If you can help, please email  Mary-Ann Agresti at

PARKING INFO

Parking Note:  There is no parking at Thacher Hall. Parking is available just across Route 6A from Thacher Hall around the Common, as well as at the Post Office. Overflow parking is also available at the Chapter House Inn parking lot (west side). Please cross 6A at the designated crosswalk in front of the building. If you need accessible parking information, please email events@thacherhall.org.

Accessibility Note:  Thacher Hall is a historic building and is not accessible via wheelchair - a short flight of stairs is required for entrance into the Hall and the restrooms are located on the lower level (accessed via stairs).
