Opening Reception for a New Exhibition: “One Earth”

Opening Reception for a New Exhibition: “One Earth”

Presented by Cultural Center of Cape Cod at Cultural Center of Cape Cod

Friday, May 3, from 5-7 pm.

“One Earth” explores the crises the Earth faces, from plastic to climate change. This exhibition, held in all main galleries from April 30- May 25, features works from three artists. Artist and activist (artivist) Sarah Thornington uses plastic marine-debris found along beaches and repurposed materials to create works that ask the viewer to pay attention and take action. Artist Erin Starr creates paintings that uniquely and beautifully represent the changing landscape and pressing issues with dire consequences for our world. Sound artist Skooby Laposky installs biodata sonification sound stations that create real-time data. This installation will gather data from the Cultural Center’s Japanese Maple, which is located in the courtyard. Visitors can listen to the generated soundscape.

“One Earth” is a story about our planet, the damage being caused, and the future we will live in.

This event is free, and all are welcome. For more information, visit www.cultural-center.org or call 508-394-7100.
