Campers will learn the value of listening to nature and caring for the earth by exploring Native American traditions.
Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod at our HyArts Programming Annex Monday through Friday, August 12-16, 12-5 pm.
This camp will explore the culture of the Wampanoag tribe that lives on Cape Cod. Campers will learn the value of listening to nature and caring for the earth by exploring Native American traditions. On walks we will gather natural materials like stones and feathers to create small-scale medicine wheels, dream catchers, and jewelry. Campers will explore the importance of ceremonies, incorporating dance and movement, and oral tradition that is passed down through generations.
We will play Native American games and taste the traditional food of corn, squash and beans.
Campers bring their own bag lunch, water, and snacks. The last day of each week, caregivers picking up campers will be invited to a Pizza Party at 5 pm where campers will present their projects.
