A Closer Look at the Art & FAMILIAL Relationships of Regional Artists with Laura Shabott
Saturday, February 17, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Member $12 / Non-Member $20 (non-member ticket includes Museum admission)

FAMILIAL, an intimate show about the family relationships of regional artists in the CCMoA Permanent Collection, is the inspiration for this two-hour lecture. We will view and discuss the work of the intergenerational and marital family connections that have shaped Cape Cod’s artist communities for well over a century. Artists in the exhibition include couples Paul and Blair Resika, Bob Henry, and Selina Trieff.  We will look at the work of father and daughter Budd Hopkins and Grace Hopkins, father Harry Holl, and daughters Sarah and Tina, among many others. CCMoA docents elevate both the show itself and the presentation by artist Laura Shabott through their insights and careful research. Everyone is welcome.

Lecturer: Provincetown-based Laura Shabott makes paintings, drawings and collage that respond to nature with boldness, strength, and originality. She is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at TUFTS, a Returning Resident at the Fine Arts Work Center and a recipient of the Building Capacity Grant from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. In addition to her studio practice, Shabott is passionate about teaching at CCMoA and sharing Cape Cod’s artistic legacy through lectures. She is represented by Berta Walker Gallery, Provincetown. www.laurashabott.com www.bertawalkergallery.com
