From October 13-November 10, “Liminal Abstractions” will be on view at Woodruff’s Art Center.  This 2-person exhibition features the work of artists Ric Haynes and Richard Cutrona. An opening reception will take place on Friday, October 13,  from 5-6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Ric Haynes & Richard Cutrona have supported each other’s creative endeavors for more than a decade. Liminal Abstractions, their first collaborative exhibition, travels along the edge of abstraction and representation. The artists’ formerly different approaches come together as Haynes’ typically representational work moves more toward abstraction and Cutona’a abstract paintings exhibit elements of representation. Liminal Abstractions, is an expression of imaginative expansion and what can happen when artists share ideas.

Richard Cutrona is an art educator specializing in photography and mixed media. He holds a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA in Visual Art from Lesley University’s College of Art + Design.

Ric Haynes was born in York, Pennsylvania in 1945. He attended the Maryland Institute College of Art on a Ford Foundation scholarship, and later went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania. Haynes became a Creative Arts therapist after graduating from Lesley University. He taught Visual Arts, Creative Arts Therapy and Film, at Endicott College, Beverly MA for 19 years.

Woodruff’s Art Center is a fine art gallery, custom frame shop and retailer of high quality artist materials, located in Mashpee Commons. The business has been serving clients on the Cape and Islands since 1989.

Woodruff’s Art Center is open Monday through Saturday 9am - 5pm (Closed Sundays).
