Eastham caller Pat Nash will be calling a variety of contra dances and mixers. Each dance will be taught with a thorough walk-through before the live music starts, with the intent of making all beginners feel comfortable.

We are honored to have local musicians Jim Rohrer on guitar and mandolin and fiddler Alice Malone playing for the dance this month. Alice is well-versed in multiple styles including Bluegrass, Old-Time, Western Swing and Irish.  She spent several years as the fiddler for Boston-based Goodtime Stringband, and Cape Cod bands Toast & Jam and Crabgrass.

Jim Rohrer, (guitar and mandolin) has toured and recorded with Southern Rail, and more recently performed in the duo Cumberland. He also can be heard on the radio as a host of WOMR’s "Bradford Street Bluegrass" and host of "The Old Time Depot."

Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. All the dances are taught and called. If you’re new to contra dance, or just want to boost your confidence, come to the Contra Basics Workshop at 6:30. No need to bring a partner; there are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community.

Outermost Contra is one of many contra dances on the Cape and was organized in December of 2014.  The contra dance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels.

Come to dance or come just to listen to great live music.  All are welcome.  Admission is $15, $10 for those under 30, $5 with student ID!
