In music, pastiche is a term to describe the imitation of historical styles or forms as well as the use of popular tunes or harmonies. In essence, the composer communicates to you with sounds and ideas that are familiar to create new music.
Red Door Chamber Music will present "Pastiche: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" featuring composers John Rutter, Camille Saint-Saëns, Paquito D’Rivera and Ludwig van Beethoven performed by artist musicians Thomas Collum, violin; Tyler Michael James, cello; Monika Varess Woods, clarinet; Eric Maul, flute; and myself on piano.
Concert repertoire: Beethoven Piano Trio in E Flat op.1, no. 1; Antique Suite by John Rutter; Select Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns; and Three Pieces for Clarinet and Piano by Paquito D'Rivera. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on Saturday, April 29th at 3pm at the Provincetown United Methodist Church. Come hear our new Hamburg Steinway M!
