Stage Managers? Who are they and what do they do? Come take an illuminating journey as we follow a Stage Manager’s daily routine from preproduction to the closing of a show. Students will learn the fundamentals of organizing production meetings, rehearsals, tech week and the calling of performances. This class will take an in depth look at prepping the rehearsal space, creating necessary paperwork and a prompt book, the responsibilities of the Stage Management Team during rehearsals, outside rehearsal needs and challenges, as well as a look at the role of an Equity Stage Manager. This is a highly interactive class that teaches students the roles and responsibilities of stage managers while providing hands-on experience. Students will have regular classes as well as the opportunity to shadow during productions.
There are a total of 9 sessions. 6 are scheduled class times and 3 are arranged with the instructor, Katie Graves. These 3 sessions will happen during a rehearsal, tech week, and at a production of Gypsy which will be on the main stage at the Theatre.
