With over 40 years of producing award-winning audio, Jim Metzner pioneered the use of sound in radio. His work has been featured in Wired Magazine, the New York Times, Audio Magazine, National Geographic, the Wall Street Journal, the CBS Evening News and the Today Show. Jim’s flagship series Pulse of the Planet is widely heard as a podcast. He’s also produced features for public radio’s Marketplace, All Things Considered and Morning Edition.
A Fulbright Specialist in Media & Communication, Jim has recorded all over the world. His sound archive has been acquired by the Library of Congress, where in time its many sounds, interviews and programs will be available to the public. He was a Logan Science Journalism Fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole.
In 2022, Jim launched the American Soundscape project – a call-to-action to identify, record and celebrate the significant sounds of our lives. For more information, visit americansoundscapes.com.
