Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra (CCCO), the Cape’s professional collaborative orchestra, presents the concert “Aurora,” on Sunday, February 19, 3 pm, at Pilgrim Congregational Church.

Award-winning concert pianist Ana Glig joins CCCO in Bach's “Concerto in D minor,” and the orchestra’s string section take a trip to outer space with music by Xenakis, William Grant Still, and Dmitri Shostakovich. “There is something to be said about pairing music from the 1700’s with the radical sounds of the 20th century, all using the same instruments that have existed for hundreds of years,” shares CCCO music director Matthew Scinto. “I’m excited to welcome back my colleague Ana Glig who will dazzle our audience with the beauty of Bach. She performs consistently around Cape Cod and throughout the United States. I am fortunate to have the pleasure to host her to perform with the orchestra.” Other works on CCCO’s program include a string piece by African-American composer William Grant Still, Iannis Xenakis’ captivating and quite striking “Aurora,” and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony. The compositions represent the diverse directions of composers from around the world since departing from the revolutionary music of J.S. Bach. Shostakovich’s music has particular meaning - as the yearlong milestone approaches since the latest Ukraine-Russia conflict began - a composer at constant odds with the Soviets throughout his professional life.

Ana Glig (Gligvashvili) is an award-winning concert pianist praised for her ‘’virtuosic command of works” and ability to “capture hearts.” A recipient of the Alfred Cortot prize at the Tbilisi International Piano Competition for the best interpretation of romantic music, Glig has performed internationally in Europe and United States in solo and chamber settings. As an orchestra soloist, Glig debuted with Georgian and Israeli symphonic orchestras. In the review of her album ‘Reminiscences’ Fanfare Magazine recognized Glig’s playing for it’s “..sensitivity and ability to finely capture some of Georgia’s haunting, elusive film melodies ..as well as anyone on disc.“A native of Georgia, Glig’s first musical impressions trace back to her early childhood and Georgian polyphonic singing, which influenced her path in music. Glig is a founder of multi-media concerts called MusArt Interconnections, which focuses on synthesis of live performance of classical music and visual art. Glig received her Master’s degree in piano performance from Mannes School of Music -The New School (NYC), an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from New York University (NYU Steinhardt). She completed her Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Tbilisi State Conservatoire (Republic of Georgia). Glig also served as an adjunct piano faculty at NYU Steinhardt. Her teachers include Eteri Andjaparidze and Victor Rosenbaum among others. Recently Glig was a featured soloist in Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert in Chicago, Illinois. She also debuted with Cape Symphony under baton of Jung-Ho Pak in a double piano with pianist and her husband, James Rosenblum. Glig is currently music director at the First United Methodist Church in Chatham. She lives on Cape Cod, where she continues to perform and teach.
