Falmouth Academy's 2022-23 Community Series kicks off on Thursday, February 16, at 7 PM with an author talk and book signing with Ousmane K. Power-Greene, Ph.D., Program Director of Africana Studies, and an Associate Professor of History at Clark University. His newest book, The Confessions of Matthew Strong, has been noted by NPR as one of the best books of the year and described as a "wildly original, incendiary story about race, redemption, the dangerous imbalances that continue to destabilize society, and speaking out for what’s right."
Power-Greene edited In Search of Liberty: African American Internationalism in the Nineteenth-Century-Atlantic World with Ronald Johnson and wrote Against Wind and Tide: The African American Struggle Against the Colonization Movement. His writing appears in The Harlem Renaissance Revisited: Politics, Arts, and Letters. He’s been featured on All Things Considered, C-SPAN Book TV, and NPR’s history podcast Throughline.
This event is co-sponsored by the Woods Hole Diversity Advisory Coalition and is part of their 2023 Black History Month series of events.
