Thaw, Melt, Move: Writing Workshop for Caretakers

Thaw, Melt, Move: Writing Workshop for Caretakers

Presented by Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at Online/Virtual Space

This course is an opportunity to move beyond writing survival mode and cultivate your writing life. Thaw, Melt, Move is for anyone who feels their caretaking of others has overwhelmed their writing spirit. Oftentimes the people, places, and jobs that inspire our writing can drain our energy to zero and make it challenging to write at all. We will read and write a variety of forms (poetry, prose, and personal essays) that inspire creativity and energize the caretaking of yourself.
Kathleen Fields (She/Her) is from Oak Forest, Illinois and now lives in Chicago. She is a graduate of St. Norbert College and holds an MA in Literature from Northwestern University. Fields is a TED ED Innovative Educator and three time National Endowment for the Humanities teacher fellow. Kathleen is a founding poetry editor of Pine Row Press, where she edits poetry and interviews poets. Her work is featured in a wide variety of publications such as The New York Times, Belt Magazine, Louisa May Alcott Orchard House, and The Platform Review. She participated in the Kenyon Review’s Summer Writing Workshop. She enjoys live storytelling and is at work on a book of humorous and honest nonfiction essays regarding motherhood, working and friendship.
