Outermost Contra Dance

Outermost Contra Dance

Presented by Outermost Contra Dance at Wellfleet Preservation Hall

Eastham caller Pat Nash will be calling a variety of contra dances and mixers. Each dance will be taught with a thorough walk-through before the live music starts, with the intent of making all beginners feel comfortable.

Pat will be calling to the music of the renowned Celtic fiddle and multi-instrumental duo of Billy Hardy and Beth Sweeney, playing music from the Scottish, Irish, French Canadian, Bluegrass, and Appalachian fiddle traditions. Check them out at billyandbeth.com.

Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork needed – if you can walk, you can dance!  All the dances are taught and called. If you’re new to contra dance, be sure to get in on the early dances for the basic moves. No need to bring a partner; there are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community.

Outermost Contra is one of many contra dances on the Cape, and was organized in December of 2014.  The contra dance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels.

Come to dance or come just to listen.  All are welcome.  Admission is $15, $10 for those under 30, $5 with student ID!
