Join educator, Stephanie King, for a relaxed and creative four-session workshop on the unique art of botanical and seaweed pressing.
Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on four Saturdays, beginning on January 28, 12:30-2:30pm Join educator, Stephanie King, for a relaxed and creative four-session workshop on the unique art of botanical and seaweed pressing. Learn how to press and preserve flowers, leaves, mosses, lichens, ferns, and seaweed. This class will start with the basic techniques for pressing botanicals in a plant press. As we progress, we will design using wet-on-wet techniques of pressing marine algae on paper and include the dried botanicals. For the love of the land and sea, all materials will be sustainably foraged and collected ahead of time by the instructor.
Each session will focus on various drying, pressing, and designing techniques to create cards, collages, and framed works of art. Prior experience is not necessary, just bring your love for combining art and nature with a willingness to experiment. This art form is a wonderful way to preserve your garden and seaside memories in your house all year long.
