Watch Local Sandwich Personalities Hit the Stage In Love Letters

Presented by Sandwich Arts Alliance at Sandwich Town Hall

Love Letters, a play by A. R. Gurney, directed by Melinda Gallant, will be performed on two dates by two sets of actors: . On Saturday, October 22nd Café Chew co-owner Tobin Wirt and Sandwich Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Denise Dever will perform at 7 pm, and on Sunday, October 23rd Café Chew co-owner Robert “Bob” King and Cape Cod 5 Manager Pattie Piva will perform at 2 pm.

Tickets are available online at www.sandwichartsalliance.org, at the SAA Center & Gallery, and at the door. Tickets are $20 per show. Tickets for both shows $35.

The play is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. Seated side by side at a table on stage, the actors will read notes, letters and cards, written over a fifty-year span, revealing their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, as well as victories and defeats that passed between them throughout their separated lives.

As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny and always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is written down.

Love Letters, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, has been performed in theater spaces all over the world, from the New York Public Library to Broadway to Carnegie Hall and back again.
