Join Julian Loida, percussionist, composer, and Head of Music at the Cultural Center, to learn the basic techniques of hand drumming featuring rhythms from around the world. By learning the art of drumming, participants will gain numerous benefits including increased strength, endurance, and coordination. Some research even suggests that drumming can lower blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, and help to control chronic pain. Julian creates a fun, engaging and interactive setting where participants will explore dozens of rhythms from Brazilian, flamenco, Afro-Caribbean, Arabic, Celtic, and funk music. All levels are welcome. Participants are asked to bring their own percussion instruments. There are a limited number at the Center, which will be first come, first serve. Please give us a call if you would like to utilize one for the workshop.

The Center's main parking lot is at the rear of the campus off Union Street, with overflow parking in the town lot on the corner of Old Main and Union Street or down Mill Street. The accessible parking spaces are near the accessible ramp entrance at the rear of the campus.
