During this performance you will see the use of theatrical firearms. All of these firearms are props, and cannot and will never be loaded with ammunition of any kind. Still, each one is carefully checked before each performance to ensure the safety of our company and our audience. Each gun shot you hear is a sound effect, programmed by our stage manager.
Assassins contains themes, ideas, and language that can be activating for some. This production depicts murder, execution, and suicide. There is abusive language and behavior as well as some sexual content.
Assassins lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim and book writer John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream. Considered provocative and controversial when it premiered off-Broadway in 1990, the show is imbued with new layers in today’s social and political climate, continuing to raise important questions about the dark side of the American Dream.

Week Seven of Nine

Each summer, College Light Opera Company invites 75 of our nation's most promising theatre artists to be in residence in Falmouth for 11 intense weeks of production. These students become members in our Vocal Company, Orchestra, Design and Production Team, Music Staff, and Business Staff. The result is 9 fully produced musicals and operettas performed at the Highfield Theatre. These productions are considered to be 9 of the best theatre productions on Cape Cod each year.
