Samara Joy, just rated #1 new artist by Downbeat jazz magazine, appears with rising star guitarist Pasquale Grasso. She sings jazz standards with a voice reminiscent of Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. Pasquale is a start in his own right.
Since winning the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal competition, twenty four year old Samara Joy has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the jazz world. Ms. Joy is rated the #1 new artist by Downbeat jazz magazine and the 2021 Best New Artist in the JazzTimes expanded critics poll. She sings jazz standards with a voice and style reminiscent of Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald.
Ms. Joy is joined by Italian born guitarist Pasquale Grasso, a rising jazz star in his own right. Mr. Grasso has an astounding technique and concept informed not by jazz guitarists but rather by bebop pioneers like Bud Powell, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Critics say he is setting a new standard for jazz guitar.
