A Night of Alternative Soul-Funk with The GroovaLottos

Presented by Cultural Center of Cape Cod at Cultural Center of Cape Cod

Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Saturday, June 4, at 7:30pm. The GroovaLottos are a Grammy-nominated, alternative soul-funk ensemble created by veteran touring and studio session players and singers. The group first performed publicly in 2011 at a multicultural festival in the afternoon and a local dive that night but quickly rose to be a New England regional favorite with its signature mix of funky soul classics and catchy originals. The 2017 release of their self-released album, "Ask Yo' Mama," received four Grammy nominations in Pop and R&B and earned additional nominations in R&B and Rock the following year.

Now with a commercial-grade recording studio at their disposal, the ensemble is currently releasing singles from their re-mixtape project "Mama's Hamper" and recording their follow-up album "Cause Yo Daddy Don't Know.” Current members consist of core members: Mwalim, keyboards & vocals; Chuck V., bass, guitar, and vocals; and The ZYG 808, drums and vocals; as well as newer members Phillip Aaron, vocals; Michael Shipman, guitar & vocals; and Richard Johnson, bass. Don’t miss your chance to hear the Grammy-nominated GroovaLottos.
