Zoom Talk: Jen Kano and Anya Zolkos: Judges of Student Climate Photo Show

Presented by Falmouth Art Center at Falmouth Art Center

The Falmouth Art Center’s student photography show, Witnessing Climate Change, has generated much discussion among visitors.
The judges of the show, professional Photographer Jen Kano of Cataumet and climate researcher Anya Suslova Zolkos of East Falmouth, will give a Zoom talk about their professions and their role in judging the exhibit next week.

Jen Kano is a member of the Upper Cape Camera Club and works on the club’s juried shows. Other members of the Upper Cape Camera Club who helped to put together the Witnessing Climate Change exhibit were Walter Knox, who printed, mounted and framed the photos and Jeannine Lavoie and Frank Fernino who hung the show. In addition to talking about the works in the Climate Change show, Ms. Kano will talk about how photography contests are judged and offer tips for those who might submit to photography shows.

Ms. Zolkos, a research assistant at the Woodwell Climate Research Center, will talk about her background growing up in a village near the Arctic Circle and how she got involved in climate science.

The exhibit is at the Falmouth Art Center at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth for the month of January. The winning entries and the judge’s comments are posted on the Art Center’s website at Falmouthart.org.
