Music & More Winter Series: Carl Gutowski and Ana Glig

A concert exploring lyrical and lively music for Flute and Piano. Composers from the past 250 years, including works by Anna Amalia, Fanny Hensel, Mélanie Bonis, Germaine Tailleferre, Amy Beach, Debra Kaye, Katherine Hoover, Mina Esary and Milena Zhivotovskaya.

Carl Gutowski Bio:

Carl Gutowski is a classically trained flutist based in New York’s Hudson Valley and Cape Cod, MA, who has been performing in solo and chamber music settings for over 30 years. Carl is also the Concert Manager of the Howland Chamber Music Circle in Beacon, NY, presenting chamber music concerts by world renowned musicians in the historic Howland Cultural Center.

He holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Vassar College and an M.S. in Computer Science from Tufts University. During his studies he also pursued music extensively. His principal flute teachers were Tacy Edwards, John Solum and William Hebert. He has performed in master classes for Paula Robison, Ransom Wilson, Maurice Sharp and Lady Jeannie Galway.

Highlights over the past few seasons include performances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall; the Cultural Center of Cape Cod; the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall; the Chapel Restoration in Cold Spring, NY; the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College; the Cape Cod Museum of Art; Concerts Con Brio in Poughkeepsie, NY; the Old Dutch Church in Kingston, NY; and the National Opera Center in NYC.

Carl’s live performances have been featured on WQXR (NYC); WOMR (Provincetown, MA); WMHT (New York’s Hudson Valley); and WPRB (Princeton, NJ). He was the runner-up finalist of the Syrinx Flute Competition (London); placed 3rd and won the Audience Favorite Award of the Boulder Bach Festival’s World Bach Competition (Community); and won the SME Festival Concerto Competition.

When Carl isn’t making music, he is a Software Engineer with nearly 30 years of experience developing software systems for air traffic control, publishing, education, e-commerce and finance. He is currently a Software Architect at SS&C | Innovest.

Ana Glig Bio:

Ana Glig (aka Gligvashvili) is an award-winning concert pianist praised for her ability to “capture hearts” by Musical America. A recipient of Alfred Cortot’s prize for the best interpretation of romantic music, Glig has performed internationally in Europe and the United States in solo and chamber settings. As an orchestra soloist, Glig has debuted with Georgia and Israeli symphonic orchestras.

This is an in-person concert at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.

It will also live stream on Zoom.

Your in-person ticket includes the option to watch the live stream concert from the comfort of your home, giving you more flexibility. A Unique Zoom Link will be emailed to you 3 days before the concert and again on the day of the concert, if you choose to watch remotely.
